Where you give birth to your baby can be as important as who your care provider is and what kind of support system you have during labor and delivery. The Merck Manual is a quick guide to physicians to help determine a course of treatment. It has been used for over 100 years. The first Merck Manual was compiled in 1899, and was 192 pages. The most recently published Merck Manual was 2,655 pages, but it also included signs and symptoms of a disease and diagnostic methods. Many more illnesses were discovered over those 100 years.
