0

A stroke occurs when blood flow to the brain is interrupted, usually because of a blocked artery, but sometimes because of bleeding.

Stroke Symptoms

sudden, intense headache
weakness, paralysis or numbness in one area of the body
speech and visual disturbances

Dizziness and confusion. If these symptoms occur, call 911 or go to an emergency facility immediately.

Although a stroke can be fatal or result in permanent disability, prompt medical attention may be life saving and may be able to reduce some of its most harmful effects.
